Shutting Down Stellar Cyber Platform Components Gracefully
Always shut down a Data Processor (DP) component gracefully. Powering off abruptly can corrupt its file system.
There is no required order for shutting down the data lake (DL) and data analyzer (DA) VMs in a cluster. The method you use depends on how the DP is deployed.
Shutting Down a DP Appliance
On a DP appliance, use the DP appliance CLI commands to shut down the VMs or the whole appliance:
- To shut down the DL VM, enter
shutdown dl-master. - To shut down the DA VM, enter
shutdown da-master. - To shut down the entire appliance, enter
shutdown system.
Shutting Down a DP VM on ESXi
There is no shutdown or power-off command inside a DP VM. If the DP VM is deployed on ESXi, shut it down from the ESXi host or vCenter by clicking Power | Shut Down Guest OS.
Do not click Power Off. It powers off the VM without a graceful shutdown.
Shutting Down a DP VM in a Public Cloud
Public clouds include their own vendor-specific tools for shutting down a host gracefully. Refer to the vendor documentation for your public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and so on).
