Stellar Cyber Feature and API Deprecation Policy
At Stellar Cyber, we recognize that some features phase out of the product over time for various reasons. As part of our commitment to our customers and partners, we aim to make this transition as seamless as possible while providing transparency about what to expect during the process.
Feature Deprecation and the Feature Removal Process
Stellar Cyber starts the feature removal process by declaring a feature to be deprecated. "Deprecated" does not mean that the feature is removed. Instead, it means that we are starting the feature removal process so that customers have time to move away from the feature gracefully.
Stellar Cyber declares a feature to be deprecated in both the product release notes and, when applicable, in the product interface itself. Once a feature is deprecated, Stellar Cyber waits at least two releases before declaring the feature to be end of life.
For example, if a feature in 5.3.0 is slated to reach its end of life, Stellar Cyber would declare it as deprecated in the 5.3.0 Release Notes and then wait at least two releases before removing the feature in 5.5.0 or later.
Under rare situations, features and APIs may be deprecated without advanced notification, such as when leaving them in the system would cause instability or expose security issues of the system.
